Why
are some mediums called "psychic mediums"?
From what I've seen, there's not a clear difference
between someone who's called a "medium" and someone who's called
a "psychic medium".
It can be argued that all mediums are psychic while not
all psychics are mediums, just as all surgeons are doctors but
not all doctors are surgeons.
Why
can't everybody communicate with people who have died?
In my opinion, that ability is in all of us, to
greater and lesser degrees. It's like musical ability -- some
people can just manage a triangle in kindergarten while others
go on to compose masterpieces that live for centuries. Some
people have more potential to be mediums than others, but not
all of them embrace it.
When you're communicating with people who have died, do you see
them? Hear them?
Trying to explain this is tricky for me -- it's like
trying to tell someone what a certain food tastes like if
they've never had anything like it. I frequently get a visual
impression of the person who's coming through, as well as
something called "claircognizance" or "clairsentience" which is
are ways of saying I "just know" things, particularly in
response to questions. I seldom hear a spirit voice, although it
has happened to me.
The kind of mediumship I practice is also sometimes called
"mental mediumship" or "telepathic mediumship", as opposed to
physical which involves manifestations such as objects moving
during a reading, etc.
Keep in mind, though, that there is no one way that all
mediums experience their communications. Anything's possible and
no method is better or worse than another.
How
did you realize you were a medium?
I was fortunate as a child in that
no one I was close to died when I was that young. As an adult
when relatives died, although of course I grieve their loss on
this plane and wish they were still here and healthy and happy
like anyone else, I've never felt that they were completely gone
or out of touch, and I always felt the ability to reach out and
find them.
I took that for granted until two people who were especially important
to me and my family died within a few months of each other. In
discussing our grief with one another in the following months,
I started to realize that, although certainly I wished they could
be back with us, healthy and happy, still I felt much more connected
with both of them than other members of my family did.
It was also around that same time
that I was feeling increasingly like something was missing from
my life. I had a job I liked and was good at and there were no
family rifts or anything like that, but I just felt like I could
be, should be, doing something more with my life. It
took a lot of sort of cosmic "hints" before I saw the
big picture, but I finally realized that I could and should use
my abilities to help other people. I began actively developing
my skills and got to the point that other mediums were encouraging
me to offer my services.
Do you provide other
services?
Yes, I read oracle cards and now
also read tarot cards.
